Cravings
I blame the baby, but I've been eating a lot of cereal these days! Special K, Corn Pops, Fruit Loops, Fiber One... I haven't eaten this much cereal since high school.
Of course, I'm concerned about calories, sugar and nutrition, but sometimes the only thing that feels good to my picky stomach is cereal, so I just give in and go for it. I also figure that I'm not drinking any alcohol, I'm avoiding most fried food and I haven't had a taste for dessert or many other sweet things, so I'm giving in on the cereal craving.
Of course, eating a few boxes of cereal a week doesn't really encourage me to get to creative in the kitchen. I need to work on that :) If I'm not posting a new recipe, you can bet I'm at my kitchen table with a bowl of cereal and some 1% milk.
Anybody else ever dealt with a strange craving or temporary food obsession?

Ha! If I could take a picture to go with this post you would see me at my desk eating a to-go bowl of Corn Pops! I almost choked when I saw this post in my feed.
ReplyDeleteI gave in to a pregnancy craving. I figure I have only 14 short weeks to use that as an excuse. And since I gave up chicken, or more like it quit me (the texture, the smell...just yuck) I think this is a fair trade. Hoping this chicken thing is temporary.
Enjoy it!
Fruit Loops and Pops are both cereal cravings I have during pregnancy. Indulge in the sugary stuff!
ReplyDeleteI ate slices of pizza and Cinammon Toast Crunch every day while pregnant. I'm shocked I didn't gain more weight than I did. You've gotta succumb to the preggo cravings. The baby needs it! =)
ReplyDeleteThe craving for cereal won't go on forever and you'll get your appetite back before you know it. In my first pregnancy I ate "Oh's!" cereal- loved it! I also craved Taco Bell like no other!
ReplyDeleteI mostly had food aversions. Morning sickness was so bad with my first, I lost ten pounds and at 6 months, weighed the same as when I got pregnant and my OB wanted to send me to a nutritionist. Apparently the fact that I had gained back the ten pounds I lost didn't count.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, before I found out I was pregnant, I craved spinach and would cook a whole bag and eat it as a snack. So then I stocked up on it, because it's good for you....and promptly was grossed out by it. With baby #2, I craved Taco Dip, but my husband had to make it or I couldn't eat it.
I ate a lot of cottage cheese, it was pretty much the only thing I could get down some days.
It's fascinating to hear about all the cravings. Though cereal and milk sounds pretty normal. I've heard about some crazy combos people crave during their pregancy.
ReplyDeletei could not get enough cranberry juice, ginger ale(homemade kind very strong) and loaded nachos. i got so tired of eating that after a few bites i didnt want it anymore-cus i was always hungry. I remember my husband would take me out to dinner and as we r leaving I wanted an item for carry-out. he just didn't understand how that child wanted more and more. my son is now 2 1/2 and the love of my life and is totally eating me out of house and home. 2 bowls of cereal, pasta for lunch, snack and a full dinner he is only 2! Congrats
ReplyDeleteI love cereal!!! Have you had the new Oatmeal Squares? They are to die for!
